Deed from Christopher Soniticher to Samuel Meek for 10 Acres of land on Ten
Mile Creek within Washington County, Pennsylvania. The Jacob
Shidler mentioned in the deed, owned land on Daniels Run, so it is thought
that the land described in this deed is near East
Marianna, in West Bethlemen Twp., where Dianels Run flows into Tenmile
Creek. Part of the creek can
be seen on this TopoZone
map, although it is not known for certain exactly where the Meek land was

This
land deed dated October 1, 1806, coveys title to
Samuel Meek (b. 01-FEB-1772, d. 16-FEB-1843) from President Thomas
Jefferson. The deeded land is located in Section 27, Township 08, Range 01
"of the Lands North West of the Ohio, and above the mouth of Kentucky
River." This is now within Unity Township, Columbiana County, Ohio.

18-MAR-1881 sale from Cornelius Aultman to the Canton Cutlery Company
incorporated is shown on this record of sale that is contained on Pages 493 and 494 of Vol 174 of the Stark County deeds books. The property was located near the
SE corner of Mulberry Street and Liberty
Street at approx N40º47.562’ W81º22.288’
(WGS84). Notice that the Notary Public was the same George
W. Raff, mentioned above, who at the
time of this document was employed as a confidential agent, secretary and
attorney, for Cornelius Aultman.

This
is an 1881 Canton Cutlery Company mortgage
granted to Cornelius Aultman for the property located near the southeast corner of Mulberry and Liberty Streets.
The mortgage was in exchange for the loan of $6,000 to be repaid $1,000
annually, per the terms of 6 Promissory notes. Aultman had just sold this property to the company a few days earlier. This mortgage is recorded in Vol 175 Pg 162-163 at the Stark County, Ohio, Recorder’s
office. The original deed is recorded in Vol 174, Pg 493 - 494.

Lot
182 in the City of Canton was purchased by Harry E. Linton on 19-OCT-1883
from Ellen and Levi Longabaugh, as recorded on Page 471 of Vol. 198. The sale on
16-APR-1885 from Harry E. and Kate R. Linton to Austin Lynch is recorded on Page
325 of Vol. 213. The 1883 purchase occurred less than 2 weeks prior to Harry
Linton's marriage to Kate Rex on 30-OCT-1883. Both citations reference the Stark
County Deed books at the Stark County, Ohio, recorder's office. A transcription

The
south half of Lot 2706 in John E. Kitzmiller’s Addition to the City of Canton
was the subject of at least 2 real estate transactions involving Linton family
members. A sale on 17-SEP-1881 by Charles and Martha Muncaster to Elizabeth
Linton is recorded in Vol. 179, pages 116 & 117 of the Stark County deed
books. A sale on 02-FEB-1886 by Kate R. Linton and Harry E. Linton to Elizabeth Linton
is recorded in Vol. 219, Page 163-4 of the Stark County deed
books. It is not yet known how title to the property got from Elizabeth to Harry
& Kate, before Harry sold it back to Elizabeth. One of Harry Linton's
brothers was Edwin Linton, who married Elizabeth Thomas. It is believed
that this is the "Elizabeth Linton" involved in these transactions.
According to the 1883/84 Canton City
Directory, Edwin Linton was Vice President of the Canton Cutlery Co.. The "North St."
mentioned in the 1886 document is now "6th St. NE". The property sold in these
transactions was located at N40º47.993’ W81º21.963’ (WGS84).

sold a portion of his property to his son-in-law, Cyrus Bostick. The
record of that sale is shown on this record of a deed signed 09-NOV-1888 and recorded 28-JUL-1890.

Hurford, who are described as “Partners trading as The Canton Cutlery
Company”. The parcel of land mortgaged in this document is located approx 0.3
mile southeast of what is now the site of President McKinley’s tomb. These are pages 516 & 517 from Vol 248 of the Stark County, Ohio deeds books. The centre of the parcel

strips of land were sold to to the Canton
Cutlery Co. by Laura B. & Samuel A. Conklin on 30-DEC-1902. The land
was 10' off of the east side of Lot No. 3378 and 15' off the west side of Lot
No. 3377 in
Canton. The property being sold is described as "...lies immediately
east of premises now owned by said The Canton Cutlery Company." A transcription

A
part of Lots 606 & 607 of the City of Canton
(originally Lots 124 & 125 in the Henry H. Meyers addition to the City of
South Canton) were sold on 22-JAN-1907 by Kate Bostick, Nora E. Erbland and her
husband, Charles S. Erbland, to Cyrus Bostick. These lots had been
previously owned by Mathew Elder Meek, who was now deceased. Kate Bostick (nee
Meek ) and Nora Erbland (nee Linton & granddaughter of Mathew E. Meek) were
the only legal heirs to Mathew E. Meek's estate. This sale is recorded in Vol. 465, Page 19
and indexed in Vol. 22 Page 137, of the Stark County, Ohio, deed books. A

Will L. Brown's property at Lake-O-Springs. Bought from William H. and Ellen S. Braucher on 09-NOV-1916. 165' road frontage on Lake-O-Springs road by 660' deep,
totaling 2.5 acres. South boundary is coincident with the E-W centerline of
Section 14, Twp 11, Range 9, Stark County, Ohio.

Will
Brown sold 0.63 acres of land off of the rear of his property in 1920 to
Marshall F. Clay and Frank M. Clay. This Deed records that
transaction. The sale was made in connection with Mr. Clay building
Lake-O-Springs. Brown family oral tradition has it that Marshall Clay
and Will Brown agreed that the Brown family and Brown family decedents would
have unrestricted free access to Lake-O-Springs in perpetuity, in exchange for
the $100 sale price charged by Will and Maude Brown. These terms are not
documented in the deed but they are obliquely referenced in the June 14th entry
of the 1920 Journal kept by Will Brown.. The sale
price was recorded as a fictitious amount of $1 in the deed.

deed for 1449 Gibbs Ave. is recorded here as a
part of Canton Out Lot No. 260. Charles S. Erbland and his 2nd
wife, Anna R. Erbland (nee Loeppke) purchased it from Orlando Smith et. al., on 04-JAN-1921. This is page 340 from Vol. 723 of the Stark County
deeds. The house was located at N40º48.759' W81º 21.773' (WGS84).

of Canton Lot 4367 was purchased by Charles Erbland and his 2nd wife, Anna Erbland (nee
Loeppke) from Mary Hildenbrand (nee Annie Marie
Gerber) after Fred Hildenbrand's death. The Court directive is shown
on the left, as recorded in Vol. 773, on Pages
399-401 of the Stark County, Ohio, deeds. It is dated 24-AUG-1922. The index entry for this transaction is on book Vol. D-E1, page 86a.
