The Ashdown-Milnes
wedding, took place on 30-JUN-1917 at North Collins, joining in
marriage, the bride, Mary Jeanette Ashdown, daughter of James A. Ashdown &
Clara Ashdown (nee Avery), of North Collins and the groom, Dr. Benjamin B.
Milnes, son of Benjamin Milnes & Ellen Fannie Milnes (nee Birch), of
Deposit, NY. The bridesmaid was Ruth Kimble (that is, the woman on the left side
of the 2nd row-left photo), who subsequently married Terry
Brown, on 10-JUN-1922. Ruth is described in the newspaper account as a
"...cousin of the bride". According to the newspaper account,
others attending the wedding included Dorothy Kimble, of New Kensington,
Pennsylvania. The matron of honor (that is, the woman on the right side of
the 2nd row-left photo) was Mrs. Frederick C. Hyde (nee Lulu F. Milnes),
sister of the groom. Also in the wedding party were the bride's two
brothers, Dr. Norris B. Ashdown and Professor Avery Allen Ashdown (see 2nd
row-right photo).
