Erbland

The known Erbland family history begins with August Erbland, b. 16-OCT-1838 in Alsace, d. 20-DEC-1886 at Canton, Ohio. He is buried in Westlawn Cemetery, Canton, Sec D. Lot 79.  On 16-APR-1874 he married Anna Marie Gerber, b. 1855 in Switzerland, d. 2-AUG-1934 at Canton Ohio.  She is buried at Westlawn Cemetery ,  Sec. 27 Lot 430.  They were married 16-APR-1874.  Their children included: Fred A. (b. 18-JAN-1875), Caroline (b. SEP-1876), Annie (b. 27-MAR-1877), Mary (b. 1878), Charles Samuel (b. 30-JUL-1879, d. 5-SEP-1954), Herman A. (b. 22-SEP-1883, d. 12-MAY-1973 at Broward, Florida), John Otto (b. 17-JUN-1885, d. SEP-1975).

Group Photo -Front Row 2nd from left is Clara Erbland (nee Pollock), wife of Herman A. Erbland.  First row 3rd from left is Bessie M. Erbland, wife of John Otto Erbland.  First man from right (standing behind girl in plaid dress) is Herman A. Erbland.  The man standing directly behind Bessie M. Erbland is her husband, John Otto Erbland. This photo is probably a key 'clue' to Erbland family history. If we could learn more about the people in this photo, I suspect that we would then learn a lot more about how the Erbland family has dispersed.

Herman Erbland and wife and Clara (nee Pollock). They were married 21-AUG-1906. Herman was b. 22-SEP-1883 and d. 12-MAY-1973 at Broward, Florida. Clara was b. 1882 and d. Aug-1959 at Broward, Florida.  Photo is marked "FLORIDA - SEPT. 1957"

This Group of 5 Women includes Clara Erbland (nee Pollock) 2nd from right.  The identity of the others is uncertain but it is believed that the women in this photo may also be present in the previous Group Photo image. The woman on the extreme left appears to be the same person shown with a man in photo "L" on the Unknown photos page. If anyone can identify these women for certain, please email us.

Alice and Sterling. Alice (nee Erbland) Dewalt (b. 28-JUL-1911, d. 6-JAN-1981) and her husband, Sterling Dewalt (b. 20-APR-1905, d. JUL-1971) were married 25-NOV-1939 and had no children. They lived at 2309 Grove Place SW, Canton.
